Is There Anything That Can Be Done About Deep Scars Left from High Doses of Dexamethasone?

Is there anything that can be done for loose skin and scarring? My husband had a spinal tumor and was put on very high doses of steriod for almost a year, he gained alot of weight quickly and 16mg of dexamethsone left skin on his abdomen,and under arms looking like deep stripes, people ask if he was burned. It has been 3 years now and he has been declaired healed He has lost all of the extra weight(OVER 150 LBS) but now has loose skin and bad scars. He would like to avoid major surgery.
