Dark Spots After First Starlux Laser Scar Removal Treatment

I had my first session, the Dr. spent 3 minutes with the starlux laser on my scars. After, the spots started out red and a little swollen but have now turned darker than before. I am a Filipino so my skin is darker, (skin type 4) according to a dermatologist. Will the spots lighten over time?
