I'm not sure if you are asking this question because you do tape your eyelids or not. Normally, the only medical reasons to tape the eyelids closed would be in the case an eye that did not close completely or in the case of a corneal abrasion. Usually, this would not need to be done for years and years. The taping of the eyelid should not cause any harm to the eye, but again, it would be unusual to need to do this over the long term.
