Can I get Damon braces with baby teeth still in?

I'm 13 and was told I couldn't get braces because I had short roots but then I went to a dentist and she recommended Damon braces and quoted $4800. But I still have a couple of baby teeth yet to fall out is this a problem? And will the short roots be a problem also they are not too short just slightly shorter than average?
