Is It Possible to Make a Custom Protective Face Mask for After a Rhinoplasty?

I had a terribly difficult revision rhinoplasty about seven months ago. It looks great and I am beyond happy with the result but I have become rather paranoid about breaking it or doing any damage. My friend had a custom protective mask made after her surgery so that she could play tennis. I am a sleep walker and sleep roller so I was wondering is there any way to make a custom mask that would protect my nose at night. Please help! Thanks!

Custom facial mask

Custom-made acrylic masks are typically made by professional or collegiate athletic departments and require taking a mold of your face (which can be very expensive). A less expensive alternative is to have your PS make an Aqualplast nose splint which you can tape on at night

Preventing trauma after nose job

As stated below, there are numerous interventions to limit trauma to the nose after a rhinoplasty. These include plastiuc masks that rest on the cheeks and forehead and "bubble out" over the nose to disperse any blows to the face. Alternatively, pillows that similar to those for neck pain which keep the neck lifted in the the supine position or those airplane u-shaped neck rests can be used. see video

Custom Mask after Revision Rhinoplasty

Custom facial masks are readily available. Contact  your surgeon or a physician who specializes in facial trauma to purchase one. If all else fails, call the home office of your professional basketball team, the Washington Wizards; professional ballplayers frequently use these masks after facial injury.

Protecting Your Nose After Rhinoplasty

I have many patients use a travel pillow at night to minimize chances of inadvertently rolling over on their nose at night. I do realize that even this doesn't help some patients who might be even more active during sleep. In these situations, you may benefit from wearing a protective face/nose mask that is commonly used for athletes who resume playing shortly after nose injury/surgery. Below is a link to one such product: Good luck.
