I Am an A Cup and I Want to Be About a D
I have nursed two children and my breast went up to DD and even larger at times. I would like to fit into a D or even a DD. I am 5'7 and 130lbs and an A cup. I was think 475-500 cc. The doctor said to decided between 450-500cc. I am worried about going to large and having sagging or having them bottom out....Any ideas??

Breast augmentation to go from A to DD
First of all, bra sizes are not standardized. I tell my patients to forget about bra size. Bra size does not matter. Just go with an implant size that gives you the look you want. If you are happy with the look but not the bra size, cut the size tag out of the bra.
Second, implant problems are directly proportional to implant size. The bigger the implant, the more likely the problems. Just make sure you understand this before going big. ...

Large implants
Getting very large implants may cause early problems with the heavier implants causing earlier sagging and stretching. Without an exam it would be very hard to size you up. I would caution wanting a DD.

When it comes with breast augmentation, sometimes you must realize that certain choices may come with a price. Larger implants, particularly in patients with thinner tissues, may lead long term to stretching and thinning of the breast tissue and skin. Larger implants and their problems
Hello,
While you can go for the goal you have set, your incidence of problems over the long term will be greater. You might sag or bottom out or just ripple a good deal due the the thinness of the tissue you have available to cover and support the implants.

DD cup Breast Implants
First of all, t's very hard to guarantee a final bra size because there are so many variables to consider....how you wear the bra, your band vs cup size, JC Penny's vs Victoria's Secrets etc. So be careful about having bra size as a goal. In fact, by going bigger you may overshoot your target.
When selecting implant sizes its always better to go with ranges based on your breast and chest wall measurements and your desired look:

Size of breast implant
A big implant will indeed stretch the breast tissue/skin and cause a lot of drooping with time. I would encourage you to think about a slightly smaller implant which is likely to give a better long term result, though may not be a D cup.

Larger breast implants can cause larger problems
While a DD-cup is a worthy goal, larger breast implants, say 500cc can cause larger problems. Over time expect you tissue to thin over the implant with more rounding and 'show'. Folds or ripples may become more noticeable, and the breast can have a translucent quality in full sun. Spend more time on the look that you want and the bras you want to fit and fill out. The smallest implant that will suit your need is the one for you.

Breast implant sizing considerations
In my practice, 450-500 cc is a big implant - I avoid using big implants because they create long term issues with tissue stretch, sagging, bottoming out etc. The advice I give to every patient I consult with is to choose an implant that FITS within the existing dimensions of your breast - the width and height of the breast.
