Can Crease on Nostril from Alar Base Reduction Be Smoothed with Silicone?

I had septo-rhinoplasty in Sept 2009, the surgeon did alar base reduction. He removed some tissue from both my nostrils and then stiched it up. However the stitch on left nostril was too tight and there is a crease there and my left nostril is not smooth. The stich on my right nostril was not tight and it looks smooth and blended. Can liquid silicon be used to fill up that crease so that my left nostril looks more smooth?

Liquid Silicone in Alar Scar

Liquid silicone can be injected into your alar scar, but I would not do it, or recommend it.  I would revise the scar. The picture is not clear, but if there is retraction of the nostril rim a cartilage graft would improve the contour.

There is no indication for silicone injection in any situation

I have seen enough complications from silicone injection to advise against it. There many options including scar revision, topical silicone creams, and cortisone injections. Please check with surgeon and let him know that you are not happy with the scar.

Alar surgery

I would not recommend injecting silicone freely into the tissue.  This has proven time after time to not be a recommend practice. You need to be evaluated for scar revision essentially. Good luck.

Correction of nostril nose scar with liquid silicone injections

The resolution of this photo is poor and it is difficult to assess the scar. Liquid silicone could potentially help. This is an off label FDA indication. It is difficult to inject in this arrea because the skin is thick and oily (sebaceous) and does not lend itself well to silcone augmentation. see video
