Liposuction lumps

One of the fairly common complications of liposuction is contour irregularities.  Specific lumps if early post-op often can be "massaged out."  The tissues can be firm as the healing occurs and usually "settles" over time.

Should not have lumps after liposuction

I have to disagree with the other doctors.  We make sure there are no lumps at the end of liposuction.  And if there are lumps afterwards, that's a complication.  Hard lumps are usually collections of fluid that become internal scar tissue.  Lymphatic drainage massage can help smooth out these areas.

After 6 weeks, this being to soften and eventually the fat softens like it was before liposuction. So what... more

Liposuction lumps

It all depends on your timing after surgery. In the first few weeks to months after surgery, hard, lumpy areas are usually areas of swelling. Over time, as your body resorbs the swelling, the lumps should go away. If you're 6 months or greater out from surgery, lumps are much less common. In that case, it can represent an area of fat necrosis, or a segment of fat with decreased blood flow, which has become scarred.
