Mastectomy and implant placement

Nipple sparing mastectomies are becomig more common but onlu in select patients with small tumors and no involvment of the subareola tisue. Implant can sometiems be palced this way.

Post Mastectomy Reconstruction Typically Done Thru Mastectomy Scar

It would be very unusual to perform a post-mastectomy breast reconstruction through a periareolar incision. In most cases the implant or tissue expander can be placed through the previous (mastectomy) scar so that there are no additional scars created.
