Eyebrow lifts are not usually covered by medical insurance

Eyebrow lifts are not usually covered by medical insurance. The criteria for insurance covering upper eyelid and eyebrow descent, is related to vision loss. So generally, it is required to have 30% of your superior visual field obstructed and a demonstration that by lifting the brow that the field will be resolved. It’s very rare for brow ptosis to be so bad that your visual field will be affected this much. see video

Not likely to get insurance coverage for browlift

Browlift is generally a cosmetic procedure. I suppose in extreme cases where you could demonstrate an obstruction of visual fields to a degree daily function is impaired it may be considered. I think this is unlikely.

Doubt that a Brow Lift would be covered by insurance in most cases.

Brow Lifts would not be covered by insurance in most cases.  There may be some instance where the eyebrows are very low to the point that your visual fields are obstructed but I think that's a real tough sell and would not count on it.

Eyebrow lifts and insurance companies

An eyebrow lift may be considered medically indicated and covered by your insurance carrier. If your eyebrows are low lying, contributing to excess skin that is blocking your field of vision, insurance companies may cover an eyebrow lift.  Your physician will perform visual field testing and obtain photos which can be reviewed by your insurance carrier for approval prior to surgery.

Brow lifts may occasionally be a legitamately insurable surgery

In general, if a surgical procedure is being performed to improve or restore function - such as vision, in this case - it may be a covered benefit. Most insurers require objective testing of how much of your visual field is affected by your droopy brows.

Eyebrow lift

Yes. There are times when  patients have significant drooping of the eyebrows, and also drooping of the eyelids that impair vision.  In such cases, an eye exam which includes a peripheral visual field examination is needed to document any deficiency in the visual fields of the patients.  In some of these cases, if the patient has really good insurance, we have been able to get approval for an eyebrow lift in conjunction with an eyelid lift.
