Tummy Tuck Scar Too High, and Belly Button Protruding? (photo)

I'm almost 5 weeks post op and was promised a "super low scar that even the most revealing clothes would cover" but the scar is pretty high, and has pulled my pubic mound up appx 2.5 inches! Also my belly button is protruding.... I'm not sure what to do, my doctor seems unconcerned and irritated when I voice these concerns...

Hard to improve on what Dr Tholen has explained. I would imagine that you saw pictures of your doctors previous work before surgery I am sorry if it mislead you. I would like to remind every patient that it is important to look at your doctors pre and post photos and not be "sold" a procedure by a smooth talker.

The incision position

The issue of how high and how low the incision line is after surgery has everything to do with how much loose skin you had before surgery and how high or low the belly button is located on the abdomen and where the incision was initially made for your surgery. The too high tummy tuck scar

The low, easily concealed tummy tuck scar is our goal, even if we risk a short vertical scar if the 'old' belly button opening will not reach all the way down. Photos would help us determine how you have done as what you describe is concerning.

It is hard to comment on this situation without looking at photos, so think about attaching some to the query, and include if possible pre-op pictures. Elevating the pubic mound and hairline that much would certainly be a concern. Thanks for your question, and best wishes.

You think it could be moved only a centimeter or two?? Of course those are words from my surgeons mouth , which is why I said "my doctor promised a scar that even the most revealing clothing would hide". I paid higher than average expecting to get what I paid for... And my belly button is covered in my photo, I could only post one picture and that one best displays the very high elevation of my scar which NONE of my high waisted jeans or panties cover

I was able to post a photo but only my avatar- the scar is clearly elavated, and my pubic area reaches up to the scar line, I've been having to shave my lower abdomen to keep it looking slightly more normal but I still am not pleased with the result..

Hmm27, I think we are in the same boat. I too have a scar higher than anticipated. We have similar body shapes with higher belly buttons. How has your scar healed since your procedure?
