Intraoral Implant with PolyGel - Is This Common?

The following is an email response from a chin implant surgeon on how she/he would secure the implant. “The implant will be done via intraorally with some polygel to fill up the space behind the implant and wedged tightly between the fascia and the bone, but it will not be attached to the bone by any suture or wiring.” Is this chin implant surgical technique commonly practice in the plastic surgery community? Is this procedure doable or experimental?
