I'm in my mid twenties and I'm planning to have a breast reduction , TT and lipo to give me a more defined waist but I have no children. My stomach has never been ideal for me due to my scarring from my umbilical hernia surgery and the weight I have gained over the years. I wanted to know if I waited 2-4 years to have children after the TT would my results alter dramatically? I do not want to wait to have children before I get my tummy tuck, I hate my belly now.

Tummy tuck before kids?

The standard answer is to wait until after you have had children. If you are set on doing it now then please know that you will likely need more surgery. I would recommend not having your abdominal muscles tightened at this point and only having the excess skin and fatty tissue removed. Please also know that you may not be able to breast feed after a breast reduction. Good luck to you!

Abdominoplasty before pregnancy?

Your abdomen and breasts will change if you become pregnant. Your abdominal wall will stretch and the skin will expand to accomodate the growing child in your uterus. In addition, your breasts will become larger in preparation for nursing. Both these changes will affect the recontouring of a tummy tuck and breast reduction. As long as you are willing to accept that your abdominoplasty and breast reduction contours will change after you become pregnant, you... more

Tummy tuck surgery and timing of pregnancies

If you are unhappy with the condition of your abdomen and want to undergo an abdominoplasty at this point, subsequent pregnancies may affect the outcome. However, I will note that, after a braest reduction, the prominence of your abdomen may be more disturbing to you. So long as you are aware of the potential for revision after childbirth but find the abdomen to be a priority, there would be no reason not to proceed at this time. Best of luck with both procedures! Tummy Tuck before or after children

The decision to have a tummy tuck before children is quite a personal decision. Their are advantages to waiting until your weight has been stable and you have had all of your children. With pregnancy and weight gain, your abdominal skin will stretch. As such, it could change your results from your previous surgery and may require additional surgery to maintain the results that you desire.

Timing of Tummy Tuck Surgery?

Thank you for the question and picture. Based on your description, I think you have made up your mind to have the tummy tuck now. As you know, this may mean further abdominal surgery after you have completed pregnancies. I would suggest that you try to reach a long-term stable weight prior to proceeding with breast or abdominal surgery. This will maximize the chances of achieving the best results possible and minimize the potential for further surgery ( for example... more

Tummy tuck after children

My standard answer to your question is to wait until after having children to have a tummy tuck. Pregnancy will stretch out the skin and fascia around the muscle layer. The money and effort will be negated. With that said it is your decision. As long as you know that you may need another procedure after having children. No one but you knows how important having a tummy tuck now is. Breast reduction may limit your ability to breast feed as... more

Best to have children before breast or abdominal plastic surgery

Hi, I strongly recommend you have all your children before undergoing breast or abdominal plastic surgery. Only because there could be significant changes that would necesitate for you to repeat these procedures. It could also make revisionary procedures more challenging for your PS. You could, however, undergo a panniculectomy or liposuction to flatten your tummy without undergoing a full TT. A panniculectomy would involve getting rid of all of the skin and tissue below your BB without... more

Tummy tuck/breast reduction before kids?

Without an examination and discussion, I cannot give any specific advice, but there are some general issues to consider. If you undergo an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) before you have kids, it is very possible that you will require some form of abdominal tightening or tummy tuck again after you have your children. If you're set on the procedure at this time, just be aware of this fact. In addition, you may to require some kind of breast revision after your pregnancy.... more
