Have changed from invisalign tray 4 to 5 and a gap that was closing has opened up again and two top teeth that had moved in a little definitely seem to have moved back out. Why would this be?

Sometimes things get worse before they get better

It is important to look at the big picture and not every step.  With Invisalign, sometimes a process called "roundtripping" is used, where we move teeth in one area to later bring it back.  This allows for room for other movement and rotations that otherwise would be impossible.   If truly concerned, ask your dentist if you can see what the ClinCheck looks like at aligner 4, 5 and 6.  You may find that this is completely part of the plan. more
