What Would Cause aN Indentation/crease in Face Post SMAS Facelift? (photo)

I had a SMAS facelift 3 months ago. On the left side of my face between the corner of my mouth and jowl, there is an indentation about a 1/2" long. The area above this indentation is puffy. It was not there before the surgery. Also, the scar from the SMAS, behind the right ear is about1/2" lower than the left ear and my right earlobe is stitched further down on my face than the left earlobe. Can anyone explain what the indentation/crease is caused from and will it go away?

This may represent fluid or residual laxity of underlying SMAS, but this is hard to say without an exam and preoperative photos. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Crease in cheek after facelift

Without seeing your before photos it is really difficult to comment. The shape of your face is difficult because you have a lot of heaviness in your lower face and loss of volume in the middle portion of your face. Return to your surgeon and review your photos.
