The natural progression of capsular contracture if left untreated following breast implant augmentation surgery
Capsular contractures (CC) are graded 1-4 with 1 appearing and behaving normally, 2 being palpably tight, 3 demonstrating visible deformation, and 4 associated with pain. As CC tends to progress the grade becomes higher. Occasionally capsules may stabilize and rarely they may regress. In rare instances a tight capsule can cause folding of the implants which can be associated with rupture due to crease fold failure.

Capsular Contracture Can Lead to Pain, Difficult Self-exam
The main concern that most women have with capsular contracture is the deformity of the breast(s) that it causes. In addition to this, however, is the fact that it can make self-exam of the breast for masses more difficult. There is often pain accompanying capsular contracture also.

If the capsule is painful or distorts th breast, you shoudl probably have it taken care of. You should probably see a plastic surgeon.
