Accolate for Suspected Capsular Contracture?

I am now 7 weeks Breast augmentation post-op and was recently told by my plastic surgeon that I may have beginning signs of capsular contracture, due to the firmness of my implants. I am still very swollen and my doctor suspects that I may have inflammatory problems that may need to be checked by my general doctor. I am currently taking 400-800 i.u. Vitamin E and Fish oil in hopes for improved healing, as well as rigorous massage and compression exercises. Should I be taking Accolate now as well?

Accolate use

Hello, There is no good evidence that Accolate works, but this is the nature of off label use of a drug. I do not proscribe it but other surgeons may do so. You do need to be followed closely by your surgeon as this process may require more treatment if it does not improve.

Accolate is a medication used in the treatment of asthma and can potentially cause problems with you liver. In the few times I have used it I have not seen a clinical... more

Accolate

While there is still nothing definitive about the effects of Accolate on breast implant capsular contracture, a number of plastic surgeons believe it does help. Others are afraid of possible liver issues that can occur when taking the medication. You should consult with your plastic surgeon on this issue.
