Retin-A: Q&A
Ask a Question
Can the Use of Retinoids Cause Skin Cells to Reach Hayflick's Limit?
My concern is that through the continued use of retinoids and the resulting stimulation of cell renewal, skin cells would eventually reach Hayflick's Limit. Is this true or likely?

Great question: does the limit on cellular replication restrict the use of retinoids.
That is an outstanding question and one that I have wondered about myself.
I don't know if there is an answer.
I have pondered if we should limit the use on retinoids based on the Hayflick's ceiling on cellular division but I am not sure where I could find a reference.

Its a theory that cells can only divide a certain number of times (I think its 100 times). If you google it you will probably find lots of info on it.
