Calf liposuction

Jeffrey E. Schreiber, MD answers: Calf Liposuction alternatives for someone with metal clips in leg?

Several years ago, I had veins my lower right leg stripped and the placement of the traditional metal clips. As a result, I am unable to have an MRI in that leg, etc. Even after a considerable weight loss (at goal weight 5'11"/160lbs) and exercise (I'm a runner), I find my calves are abnormally large (19" in circumference). Due to the clips, my plastic surgeon is reticent about performing traditional Liposuction on my calves. Are there any other options for me?

With clips in your calf, you may want to consider direct excision of fat in your calves. However, the scars will most likely be more noticeable. After a large amount of weight loss, you may also have excess skin. Therefore, it would be beneficial for you to have direct excision of the skin as this will allow excision of the fat to be much safer. Good luck!
