Burping up bad taste such as iodine after smart lipo is not normal

Call you doctor right away to see what's going on as burping up iodine taste is not normal 1. Are you taking an antibiotic that is giving you that taste? 2. Are you having heartburn which is exacerbated by pressure from a compression garment? 3. Are you prone to stomach ulcers and are you taking aspirin, ibuprofen or other non-steroidal antiinflammatory agents, or were you prescribed steroids, or drinking alcohol? Acid reflux after SmartLipo.

What you are describing sounds like acid reflux which can have a very nasty taste (stomach acid in your mouth) and sometimes even has a slightly reddish/brown color. This can be caused by several different factors including compression garments, stress, decreased stomach emptying, and medications. Talk to your surgeon to make sure they know that you are having those symptoms.

Iodine Taste after SmartLipo

Burping up iodine after smartlipo is not common, but could be normal depending upon where the liposuction was performed. Generally after liposuction,  compression garments are prescribed to hep facilitate hearling by preventing bruising, blood collecting under the skin, and swelling in the areas treated. If these garments are placed around the abdominal areas, reflux of stomach acid can occur. I would recommend that you communicate this concern to your surgeon. He may recommend smaller... more
