Do arnica and bromelin help?
Arnica and Bromelin are two naturally occuring products that some state may help with bruising and swelling following procedures. While these products do appear to be safe, there really isn't good clinical evidence that they do in fact decrease swelling and bruising. I tell my patients the same and if they feel strongly about taking it I tell them to do it!

Bromelain with tummy tuck
I recommend bromelain and arnica after some surgeries where bruising may be factor (such as eyelid surgery, nose surgery, facelifts). I'm not convinced that it makes much difference with tummy tucks but I don't think it would hurt either. I would wait until the day of or the day after surgery to start them depending on your surgeon's preference. By the way, pineapple juice has a lot of bromelain if you like drinking it! Good luck. Bromelain and arnica
I advise all of my patient to take arnica and bromelain with their surgical procedures as long as there is no contraindication. I feel that there is usually less bruising and swelling and people seem to "bounce Back" quicker.

Taking naturopathic meds before and after tummy tuck
I always advise patients to check with their surgeon before taking any new medication, naturopathic medication, herbal remedy, or dietary supplement before and after surgery. Many of these can interfere with blood clotting and therefore cause bleeding, or cause problems with anesthesia. I personally do not have my patients using either of these medications. Again, chck with your surgeon as to his or her preference.
