I recently got my lips done for the first time. my lips were quite small to begin with. I had 0.5 restylane injected into the top and 0.5 in the bottom lip. I swelled like crazy, my lips were absolutely huge for 3 days and it was quite painful. It looked like my lips were so tight about to just burst. It's been about 4 days slowly going down but I don't like them. If I get the restylane dissolved will my original lips be all deflated from the excess swelling?
Answer: What happens after you dissolve the restylane Since it's only been 4 days, I would give yourself time to allow the swelling to resolve so you can see the final shape/result. It typically takes a good two weeks for the swelling to disappear. If you still don't like the look of restylane at that point, you can get it dissolved and your lips should return to their original size/shape. Good luck!

Answer: Swelling does occur with these injections and will go down Thanks for the question and I am sorry that you are having this degree of swelling following your Restylane injections. Swelling in the lips does occur with these injections and this will go down more and more over the next several days. If you can make it, don’t do much except ice the area and when all is said and done, you may be very excited with the way your new lips look. If you are totally miserable, you can go back to your provider and they can inject hyaluronidase into the area to dissolve the Restylane – the lips will go back to the way they looked before you had the injections. We always recommend that you consult with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon or the equivalent in your area – we are the most knowledgeable in these products and in the anatomy of the lips – and are the experts in these injections.

Answer: Swelling after Restylane in lips can take up to 2 weeks to fully calm down Some people swell more than others with lip injections. I would say that with only one syringe in the lips total, that there is quite a lot of swelling. Steroids can help the swelling recede faster. If you use hyaluronidase, the lips will go back to their original shape, and not loo any different. It is possible that you had a form of angioedema, but that is hard to say without seeing the course of the swelling.

Answer: Restylane for lips Restylane like Juvederm, is a nice option for the lips. Both are hyaluronic acid based, and so if you have a problem with them, there is an "antidote" to dissolve some or all of it. I would wait at least 2 weeks before deciding to remove the filler. You had a conservative amount put in, and presuming it was done by an expert injector such as a dermatologist, I am quite certain you'll be pleased with the results. If not sufficiently happy in 2 weeks, your dermatologist can dissolve some or all of it, and the lips will return to their original shape and size.
