My Right Breast is Not Settling, What Should I Do?

I had a breast augmentation on april 2010 and had silicon gel inserted behind the muscle through the armpit. From day one i noticed the right was higher than the left breast and figured like my surgeon told me it would eventually even out and it never did. In my last visit he told me that i didn't have even breast to begin with which is why they now look like that. If that ws the case then why didn't he mention that before surgery and gave me an option of weather or not I wanted uneven breasts!

Revision breast surgery for uneven breast after augmentation

Thanks for sharing with us Jen - and don't worry, issues such as yours can be fixed with relative ease by a experienced plastic surgeon. What's happened to the right breast is that the implant has settled too far inferiorly which can be seen by the discrepancy in horizontal position of the inframammary crease. The left breast is well positioned and has a normal nipple to inframammary fold distance. On the right side, the nipple to inframammary fold distance is greater than one would... more

Implants are done settling; revision is the only method to correct your concerns

Dear Jen2546, At this point, the implants will not settle to any considerable degree. From the photo, it appears as though your left (although the photo may be taken with a mirror) breast implant is higher. There is more fullness in the upper pole, and the lower edge is at a higher position than the other one. Beyond this, you may also have some pre-existing nipple level asymmetry (higher nipple on the right). The combination of a higher nipple on the right and a... more

Uneven Breasts after Augmentation

From the picture, it actually looks as if your left implant has not settled and the right is in good position.  If this is the case, then if your left implant settles over time, it will most likely elevate the position of the nipple on that side but probably not to the extent that your nipples will be completely even.  My recommendation is to discuss your concerns with your surgeon and see what they recommend.  The likelihood of settling more at this point is not very... more

Revision breast augmentation will probably correct this.

Hi. Breast implants do not really settle.  They need to be in the right place right after surgery. Just going by the one photograph,  the fold under your right implant is too low, and the fold under your left is a little too high.  That's why you have asymmetry, and I think this can be corrected. see video

The right implant is too low

Your pictures show the bottoming out of the right implant due to too much dissection. This is very common with trans-axillary augmentation. The treatment is to revise the right breast with closing the pocket . This can be done with inframmamary incision . longer you wait, more thinning of the tissue will happen over the lower breast .

Breast asymmetry

No two breasts are exactly the same, and the folds are always a bit different.  I always discuss this before surgery.

Settling of breast implants

I assume the photo you took is in a mirror so right and left are reversed.  Looking at the photo here, the breast on the left side looks like the implant may be too low (bottomed out) and the one on the right side of the photo looks to be in better position assuming it will settle a little.  I also don't understand what you say your doctor told you and if it is true, this should have been discussed preop in my opinion.

PHOTO: Which breast is low and which is high: depends on your preferences

Due to mirrors and photographic transposition. THe left breast in this photo (your right breast?) appears bottomed out and breast to the right of the image (your left breast?) appears to be properly positioned. However beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Breast augmentation

From your photo it appears that your nipples are not symetrical and I would assume that they were that way before surgery. The only way to correct asymetrical nipples is to perform a mastopexy.
