I only went down 1 cup size from 36 DD & had several complications. My surgeon agreed to waive his personal fee for a revision, but I still have to pay for all the other fees. Since the results are not what we agreed on, can I demand that the other fees be waived also? Thanks for reading.

Breast Reduction and Revision?

Thank you for the question. I would suggest that you do not “demand” anything of your plastic surgeon understanding that the results of surgery are not predictable or necessarily “guaranteed”. I would suggest that you continue calm and not accusatory communication with your surgeon. Most plastic surgeons are very motivated to keep their patients as happy as possible. Best wishes.

Revision policies

Every plastic surgeon has his own revision policy. I provide this to all patients prior to accepting a deposit. Your surgeon is graciously waiving his fees but cannot ask the anesthesiologist and facility to waive those fees. For legal reasons, it would be inappropriate for him to pay these expenses for you. Complications, while regrettable, are not necessarily the surgeon's fault but, even though unlikely to occur, do happen. Best of luck in resolving your concerns.

Does the surgeon pay for the revision or touch ups?

Generally speaking, the offer for the surgeon to waive his/her fees and devote additional time to your revision indicate that they are willing to work with you and "meet you half-way" to achieve your satisfaction. However, it is generally not customary for a surgeon to pay for the operating room and anesthesia for a variety of reasons.

Breast reduction fees

I am sorry that you were not happy with your breast reduction, but each surgeon has different revision policies.  I know that most surgeons would require a faciilty fee to cover the expenses of help and supplies.

You can demand anything, but, OR and anesthesia fees are not usually waived.

I think it is very reasonable for a surgeon to waive his fees for revisions resulting from the initial surgery if the need is within a reasonable time after surgery. Surgery to correct complications usually is covered within the global fee concept.  However, it is not reasonable to expect the surgeon to pay for the anesthesiologist and surgery center.
