I had breast implants and on the left one, there is now a bump, rather large, about 1 inch around that sticks up like a second nipple. I was thinking maybe sutures came loose inside or something? Any ideas what is going on here?

Best to go right back to your surgeon
What you are describing is distinctly abnormal. Without a photo of you there is no way to tell what the problem is. You should go right back to your doctor who will know what this is. Good luck to you.

Breast Augmentation Bump
Would be great if you could send along a photo for review....sounds like you either have lost your inframammary fold support on the affected side or you anatomy, possibly either a tubular or constricted breast, prior to surgery predisposed you to a double bubble deformity. Before photos will help.
Have you seen and discussed with your original surgeon? He or she can be a tremendous help in sorting out your question because they knew you before, during and after surgery.
Good luck and

Bump after Breast Implant Surgery
The development of a bump after breast implant surgery include:
scar
swelling
hematoma (blood clot)
fold in the implant
tissue separation or gap, allowing the implant to bulge
muscle tear
suture or suture granuloma (body's reaction to a stitch; foreign body reaction)
There are other reasons for a breast. See your surgeon to have the bump evaluated as soon as possible.

Lumps after breast augmentation
There are several reasons to feel lumps after a breast augmentation, although they are not very common. The lump could be do to the implant, from a suture, or even fat necrosis (a firm area which occurs after an area of fat loses its blood supply). However, what is more concerning is the possibility of a breast mass or cancer. You should see your plastic surgeon to evaluate this as soon as you can.

Lump on breast after breast augmentation
Breast implants usually do not cause lumps after surgery. However, it is best to be seen by your plastic surgeon to evaluate whether this is a transient lump from a hematoma or suture or a permanent problem such as implant rippling or muscle detachment. It is always important to evaluate all breast lumps for malignancy or benign tumors.

Breast lump after breast augmentation might be a fold in the prosthesis.
What you describe might be a fold in the prosthesis. There are other possibilities. In my practice, I am almost never successful in maneuvering the implant to ameliorate the problem. I have used closed capsulotomy (which is frowed upon) successfully. When it does work, it keeps the patient out of the operating room.

Bump after breast implant surgery
Breast augmentation is the most common cosmetic surgery in the United States because it provides a consistent way for a woman to change the shape, position and size of her breasts.
Although uncommon one of the known complications is a collection of fluid, blood or breast tissue after an implant surgery. You should return to your plastic surgeon with your concerns so that they may assess this bump to help determine what it is and the layout a treatment plan for its correction.

Bump on a breast implant
To have an unusual bump after implant surgery can be so many different things from palpability of a valve if it is a saline implant, a hematoma. dislodged sutures, seroma to name a few. I would see your surgeon and get evaluated.

See your surgeon
Hello,
A "Bump" popping up like this on your newly implanted breast is not typical. Have your surgeon take a look to make sure everything is OK.

Bump on the breast
Darla,
It is difficult to determine what is happening with your breast from the description. I would suggest an evaluation by a board certified plastic surgeon for more direction and advice. Good luck!

Talk to your surgeon
Hi there- It's difficult to know exactly what might be causing your problem, or if it will improve- without knowing more about the details of your surgery and the implants placed. As long as the area is not showing signs of infection (redness, pain, tenderness), I would wait for the opportunity to speak with your surgeon- he or she will best be able to help you understand what you are seeing and what to expect as recovery proceeds. If you are concerned that something may be worsening over...

Have your surgeon evaluate the bump.
The cause of the bump could be many issues. The most common reason to feel or see a bump after augmentation is a ripple/fold of the implant that cause an irregularity of the skin. It can often be corrected by repositioning the implant or changing a saline implant for a gel implant. You can also notice the port on a saline implant, which will feel and look like a small bump, usually not an inch in diameter.
A hematoma or cyst can also look like a bump or second nipple. You may have had a...

Odd to have a lump like this....
The most likely cause of a lump as you describe is the implant protruding more in an area of weakness through the muscle and/or breast gland. Still, this is an odd thing to happen after breast augmentation and you need to be seen by your doctor. IF you have had your implants for a long time you need to have this evaluated by a doctor. Any new lump in the breast is suspicious and of course you need to make sure that you do not have a mass such as a breast cancer. While this is unlikely...

Go see your surgeon!
Without seeing a picture, this question is hard to answer. I would recommend going to see your surgeon about this new problem. Some thoughts on what it could be: hematoma, infection, rupture of implant, localized swelling, etc. The list is so broad, and frankly the complaint so unusual, that a trip to your surgeon's office is warranted. Good luck.
