I am about to have breast implants, but since I don't have a lot of breast fat on the upper breast area I was considering having a fat transfer as well. Is it ok to have the fat transfer procedure done AFTER I get the implants?

You can certainly get fat transfer to the upper pole (or anywhere) after breast augmentation. obviously, one needs to be careful not to puncture the implant. dan delveccio - plastic surgeon from boston has been teaching this technique for a while now and just did this at a live surgery at baker-gordon meeting in miami. we use fat grafting quite often in breast implant revisionary surgery.

Great question! You may absolutely get fat transfer to the upper pole after augmentation. I am doing this more and more frequently. Implants are round in shape, and yet breasts come in ALL shapes and sizes. The beauty of fat is we can put it literally exactly where it's needed and wanted. Thereby, creating an even more symmetrical perfect shaped breast.

Yes, it can be done at the same time or after. Care has to be taken to make sure that your breast implants are not damaged at the time of fat transfer. Best of luck.

Fat transfer ahs been used mostly in reconstructive breast cases. Fat transfer is being used by some in primary breast augmentation. It can be done at the same time.

If you truly need to have fat grafting for the cleavage or upper pole fullness, I would do it at the same time. If there is a question about the need for the fat grafting, you can get breast augmentation with implants and fat grafting later.

After breast augmentation if further upper pole fullness is wanted, fat grafting this area would solve the problem. It would create a soft, natural looking upper breast shape. It is good to wait several months after the breast augmentation to make sure that you need to have it done. Hello Hello 6548, Fat grafting can be done at anytime with a breast augmentation using implants. It is usually preferable to wait to see the results of the augmentation and then fat graft areas that may seem deficient, usually along the inner surface and upper area of the breast.
