I had my 350 cc breast implants removed and reduced to 265cc, but I am still the same size (36D). I was a 36D and wanted to be a 36B. I don't understand, what did my surgeon do wrong?

Your breasts are naturally larger

This is a nominal change in implant volume with a D cup breast to start out with. In order for you to decrease your bra size to a B cup you may need either a breast lift or reduction procedure with or without an implant. Dr Edwards

Don't focus on the cup size; think about shape and proportion

The surgeon didn't do anything wrong. It sounds like you have relatively small implants. If you want to be any smaller, you will likely need to remove the implants and possibly get a breast reduction. Clearly, you have smaller implants. But to go down from a D to a B you would need to be reduced by 300-400cc on average. Removing your entire 265cc implant will not likely get you there and it will likely produce a loss of upper fullness. It sounds as if you need to discuss this with your... more

Not enough info

How long ago did the surgery take place?  You may have a fluid collection or swelling.  A 100 cc difference is about equal to a cup size in general. sek

Breasts are more than just volume and cup size

There is no exact mathematical correlation between implant volume and cup size. Part of the variable is the size of your natural breast tissue overlying the implants. Also, a breast can be a firm cup size and also a soft similar cup size. Exchanging implants for a smaller volume might not make the contour significanly different to change cup size, but might may the breasts somewhat softer since there is less fill volume. The opposite way of thinking about this is when a breast is lifted... more

I doubt anything was done wrong

Hello Suesue The final bra or cup size depends on a number of factors, including the circumference of the chest, how much fat is in the axillary area and the size of the implants. With the small implants you have (265 cc) you are still a 36 D. My guess is that if you remove the implants themselves and have no implants you would still be about a 36 C cup. To get to a B cup may not be feasible given that, unless you had a breast reduction in addition to implant removal. The simpler... more
