When will my breast implants drop?

It usually takes about 6-8 weeks after surgery for breast implants to settle. The superior position is due to swelling and this will take time. Be patient. Keep wearing your band and talk to your surgeon about massaging, it will help. I doubt that with a 450ml implant, you are still a B cup. Check your preoperative pictures. I’m sure there is a big difference. Now if you are 2 months, out and they are still high, then you may have a problem with implant placement or early... more

When will they drop?

Implants can take anywhere from 2 -8 weeks to "drop" and settle.  You are only 18 days after surgery. Dont worry. Massage the upper poles of each breast and followup with your plastic surgeon.

How long until implants drop?

You can't expect immediate results as fast as 18 days.  It can take several months for them to drop.  Keep massaging!

Breast augmentation

It is difficult to acertain your problem without photos.  Give it another 2-8 weeks.  If it doesn't, then you may need a revision in the future.

When will my implants drop?

When the impalnt sits within the pocket under the breast, pressure is placed upon it by the overlying tissue. The skin at the lower portion of the breast is often the tightest, so the implant is distorted and the breast looks very full at the superior pole (top) of the breast. As the lower pole (bottom) of the breast relaxes with time (it always does) the pressure upon the lower part of the implant relaxes and the volume redistributes with more fill in the lower part of the implant and... more

VIDEO: Exercises to help lower high breast Implants

Your breast implant surgery is very recent and you should be more patient with allowing them to drop. If permitted byu your surgeon, I am attaching a video which, in addition to the band, will help promote the descent of the implants. see video

Breast Implant Position after Breast Augmentation: Muscle Relaxation

Breast implants are very commonly placed under the pectoral muscle in breast augmentation surgery. Despite making the implant pocket and position in the operation to accommodate the breast implant, the muscle and the soft tissue of the breast keep the implant from dropping and actually may force the implant upwards during the recovery period. This is likened to a muscle spasm or cramp and the muscle alone can contribute to volume above the implant. It takes about three weeks for things... more

When do breast implants "drop"

Generally speaking, submuscular breast implants take anywhere from one to three months to fully "drop" or settle to their final, natural position.  If you have early capsular contracture (scar tissue) your implants may not drop and can appear "too high".  I would recommend early massaging to help with the process.  If you are concerned, you should follow up with your plastic surgeon to be evaluated. Best wishes, Dr.Bruno

Too early to judge implant position

The final results from a breast augmentation can take several months before the implant position settles. Although this is not always the case, it does seem to be more common with submuscular implants. For larger implants (and 450cc would be considered larger), it may take awhile before the breast skin and tissue stretches to accomodate the implant. When this stretching/relaxing occurs, it gives the impression of the implants settling and being less "full" in the upper pole. I do... more

When do implants drop after breast augmentation?

Eighteen days is too early to expect your implants to drop to their final position.  Generally, it takes a minimum of 6 weeks for implants to settle.  Sometimes, it can take as long as several months.  You are doing the right thing by performing your massaging exercises and wearing your band.  Be patient and you will likely be happy with your final results!

Wear your band 24/7 on your breast implants

Breast Implant dropping is dependant on several things including how relaxed your original skin was, prior pregnancy and size of implants, but dropping usually takes several months. I would suggest wearing your band 24/7 to keep constant downward pressure on your breast implant.

Post-op augmentation

Eighteen days is a bit early for the breasts to settle with the new implants. You have to give it some time usually about 3-4 months.

When do implants drop?

Most of the time, breast implants take 6-8 weeks to settle into position, especially submuscular implants.  Implants placed through the underarm area ("transaxillary augmentation")  sometimes take even longer.  Try to be patient, wear your band, do your massage, and remember that re-operation to lower implants is rarely necessary--gravity is a pretty powerful force!

Submuscular Implants May Require 6-8 Weeks "To Drop"

Although there are contributors to this site who state that implants do not drop, I find that essentially all of my submuscular implants start at a higher level on the chest than they eventually settle into.  I agree that this process sometimes takes 6-8 weeks and also that you should continue wearing your band 24 hours a day except when showering.
