If you are interested in lip plumping, fillers are the best choice. My personal preference is Juvederm, but there are lots of options in experienced hands. Botox can be used to relax lines around the lips, but it will not plump them up. A combination of Botox and a filler can be used as well, but first have... more

Botox can help relax the lips and therefore appear a liittle fuller, but to add volume you will need to add some dermal filler like Restylane or Juvederm.

Botox does not fill the lips...juverm or restylane are examples of hyaluronic fillers that do. Botox can be used successfully to reduce upper lip lines by relaxing the mucles there with minimal short-term side effects of ie, not being able to suck from a straw for 7-10 days or so. The smoothing generally lasts 3-4 months, and some nice lip upturn is often visible. I prefer using Botox first to achieve smothness along the upper lip especially in younger women. Fillers used to augment the vermillion border of the lips or the volume of the lip can be effective, but be warned: some of the oddest looking people I have seen both in Los Angeles and Colorado are those who have been over treated with lip fillers over a period of time. Distortion seems to be cumulative, and the "Homer Simpson" large upper lip becomes an issue. Proceed cautiously... and I'd suggest waiting until you are older and "losing lip volume" before trying much filler. Looking like Angelina Jolie, though desirable, is not reproducible even in the most skilled injector"s hands. These are genetically lush lips, not enhanced ones. Proceed cautiously and Best of Luck.

Botox is used to relax the moving facial muscles that cause wrinkling by temporarily paralyzing the muscle fibers. Some of the smoker lines arouond the lips could be corrected with Botox injections but it does not provide fullness. Since you desire fuller lips you need a filler product to provide more volume and fullness. There is a wide variety of products and options to produce fuller lips. You have a choice of injecteables which give you a temporary fullness or placing an implant in the lips. Iorder to determine what is the best product and option for you, make an appointment with a surgeon to discuss the risks, complications, longecity and the cost.
