Kenneth R. Francis, MD answers: Choosing the right Breast Implant size

What size implant would be right for me? I'm 5'3" 105 lbs. I have A's right now I've thought about a full B or a little C.

trackchic,

There is a range of implant volumes that will give you an augmentation to a full B or small C cup breast. You will probably be around the 200-250cc range. A more accurate determination can be made in consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon after evaluating your body frame and tissue characteristics. Many plastic surgeons will use "sizers" during the surgery to decide what volume gives you the best size for your needs. I would recommend a few different consultations to obtain some different opinions. Good luck!

Hi! Your expectations are very realistic and sound great. So many women want to go too big.

The best implants for you will be about 200 cc's . I use Mentor round smooth walled Moderate PLUS profile or High profile implants (depending on the width of your chest).

As I say, sizers take all the guess work out of picking size.. During surgery, we place a sizer in your breast and sit you up (you are asleep, of course). Then we place different volumes of saline into the sizer until we find the EXACT volume that gives you a full B-Small C natural look. Then we discard the sizer and open the permanent silicone implants.

A sizer costs $45, so it is a GREAT investment.

I don't use "moderate" profile implants because they are really underfilled low profile implants and they can give you rippling.

Choosing the right implant for you requires a discussion with a surgeon, and a good physical exam and history. I take a lot of time with patients going over this very question To tell you what size would be right for you without spending this time is not going to be accurate.
