A day after surgery my nose became blocked and it was very uncomfortable. Blood stopped rushing out my nose instead a white fluid mixed with blood started dripping the next day which i can honestly say is not pleasant having to use a tissue every minute. At the same time mucus covered with blood would pour out occasionally. I checked my nose with a torch and i can say that my nose is full of the stuff. Please could you tell me if this is normal?

Answer: Is Having Bloody Mucus and a Pinkish Fluid Dripping from Nose After Septorhinoplasty Normal It is normal to have a small amount of blood-tinged drainage from your nose after surgery. This can last a couple of days and up to a week. As long as it is scant, it is likely normal. It is also normal for your nose to be significantly congested after surgery. This can last weeks but should be much better by your first follow up visit. Your surgeon might have given you nasal saline irrigation recommendations after surgery as this often helps clear much of the mucous and crusting that can build up after surgery. Ultimately, you should ask your surgeon whether or not this is normal. He should be able to reassure you or recommend you go see him before your next scheduled visit. Best of luck!
