Creams for Facial Birthmark Removal in Infants?

My son is 20 months old and has a large cafe au lait birthmark on his face. Are there any other options for removal other than laser treatments? Are there creams? At what age can I begin these treatments? Is there a chance the birthmark will move or lighten?
