Birthmark removal on dark skin?

I was wondering if there is any solution to removing my birthmark. I am African American with a dark skin tone.

I guess the type of birthmark is similar to Cafe-au-lait, and it really is a massive size on my thighs. Will laser treatments make any difference or will it just fade a little?
