Beware of claims of non-surgical breast lift procedures!

Gregory A. Buford, MD answers: Is there a non-surgical Breast Lift procedure?

My breasts are very saggy for my age. I just turned 20, and I was wondering if there is any way to lift them without surgery. I am a 32D.

There is really no non-surgical breast lift that works.  Several factors contribute to sagging of your breasts but the main one is stretching of the internal supporting fibers called Cooper's Ligaments.  When these become elongated, they provide less support and so your breasts appear less perky.  Unfortunately, current breast lift procedures actually do not shorten these ligaments but simply reshape the skin envelope around the attenuated ligaments and provide a lift.

Many practitioners will advertise the BOTOX breast lift or the Thermage breast lift, etc.  Beware of these claims.  If they were really effective, chances are that we as Plastic Surgeons would already be using them.  And we are not.

I hope that helps.
