There are many non-surgical procedures that do lessen the appearance of acne scars, but not fully in most cases. Is there a surgical procedure out there that can actually completely remove acne scars?

Acne scars and surgery

There is no surgery that can completely remove acne scars without leaving a scar itself.  The most common is using a punch biopsy to remove the old scar that has atrophied, and closing them simply.  Lasers can be added later to "level" the playing field, so to speak.

Depends on the depth and size of acne scars

Acne scarring is a very common concern. Usually, when there are many procedures that are advertised to address a problem, no one solution is the best. That being said, for small "ice-pick" scars, the options for addressing this are resurfacing (with lasers for instance), fillers, or surgical excision. I have had variable success with fillers (even after releasing the scar), because the scar tends to reform. If you have some scars that are worse than others, you can excise them... more
