CONTACT NOW Answer: It is possible If you were to exercise at the gym and you were using your facial muscles more while exercising, for example, frowning, squinting, or lifting your eyebrows, you may find that the effect from your Botox treatment does not last as long, since you are forcing the use of the muscles that were relaxed with the Botox.

Answer: Botox lasts 3 months The effect of Botox is to alter the nerve's ability to send signals to it's muscles. Working out does not change this physiology. However, what my be happening (in theory) is that as you work out, you're strengthening the other surrounding muscles that have not been affected by BOTOX (if there are some ) and they become stronger and compensate for the relaxed muscles which are still under the effect of your Botox injection

Answer: Botox and Exercise Most doctors will say that exercise or expression have no effect on botox longevity, however, I have treated a lot of men, a lot of expressive people, and lot of people that exercise and I have found that the botox/dysport/xeomin does not last as long as it does in people who are not in those categories. Either get touch ups sooner or get larger doses when you first get treatment. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Working out in a gym will not cause Botox to lose it's effectiveness more quickly. Hello danielo,The answer to your question is NO. The duration of the effect of Botox can vary from patient to patient. With repeated, regular doses of Botox, some patients develop enough muscle atrophy that their results start to extend their duration. I have several patients that now only come to see me once a year to get their Botox. With repeated doses of Botox, some patients develop antibodies to the Botox protein that causes their duration of action to get shorter. These patients notice that the Botox no longer lasts as long, or they need more Botox to overpower the muscles to get the results they want. I advocate for patients to get on a regular Botox schedule every 3 months for at least a year to see if long term atrophy can be created. It is my belief that random applications of Botox at irregular intervals create the greatest treatment failures over time. The effect of Botox wears off when the antibodies decrease local toxin concentration, or when the muscle "grows" more neuromuscular junctions that can respond to normal neurotransmitter stimulation, effectively bypassing the Botox treated areas. With that said, have a great workout!Dr. Shah
