Details, I'm 55, about 5'5" tall, have weighed between 129 and 138 for the last 37 years. I have 2 kids -- the youngest is 20. I have always had heavy hip and legs compared to the rest of my body. I exercise regularly. I can't see myself changing my eating or exercise habits to maintain the weight lost.
Answer: Weight loss after liposuction you have to maintain a good exercise and diet to keep your body after liposuction, however, genetic areas of disproportion are usually permanently removed after liposuction. if you do not follow appropriate diet and exercise and lifestyle modification, you can gain fat in other areas not treated with liposuction. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Do you have to cut your food intake to maintain the weight/fat loss after liposuction? That is a great question.Weight loss or gain represents the net caloric intake of the person. If someone eats more calories than they burn in a day, over time the body will store the excess calories as fat. This person will gain weight. If someone burns more calories in a day than they consume, then the body uses stored calories (fat, etc) as fuel. This represents weight loss. After liposuction the total weight of the patient is less, but whether they gain or lose weight is determined by their net calorie balance. Assuming that the calorie balance remains neutral, then that person should maintain their weight at the new lower level.

Answer: For a stable weight no change in diet is necessary after liposuction. If your weight is stable you do not need to change your diet after liposuction. The fat will not return to the areas treated.

Answer: If liposuction removes 7lbs of fat do you have to cut your food intake to maintain the weight and fat loss? This is a good question. Removing fat from areas that are larger will prevent future accumulation in those areas to some degree. Thus, additional fat would be more likely to deposit elsewhere.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Dietary maintenance after liposuction I would question the seven pound estimate, and Yes, dietary intake is critical to maintaining good results, but lower extremity sstrength and muscle building will lead to the most improvement as the increased muscle mass will help take up the skin laxity
