When Can I Go Back to Work After Mastopexy / Implants?

I'm planning on having a full mastopexy and breast implants. I work in the EMS field. Sometimes my job requires heavy lifting of patients to my stretcher and then lifting the stretcher. My doctor says I will only need a few days to heal and then I can go back to work. He says that this type of work will be fine as long as I'm not lifting my arms over my head. I'm really worried that I may be out for a while. Call volume is 0 to 8 pt's a day in a 12 hr shift but I can rest between calls.

Return to Work after Mastopexy with Implants

Since you work as an EMT and are required to lift patients and stretchers, I would not want you to return to work for 4-6 weeks following an augmentation/mastopexy.  The only way I would be comfortable with you returning to work earlier would be if you always work with a partner who would be willing to lift both your and their shares of weight.

Lifting restrictions and return to work with breast implants and lift (augmentation mastopexy)

When I operate on medical staff at the local hospital, they often will not let staff return to work unless they are unrestricted, In under the muscle implant placement, this is 6 weeks and for over the muscle, I recommend 3 weeks

Mastopexy and augmentation

I tell my patients that they should avoid heavy lifting for about 6-8 weeks. If done too soon, it may lead to hematomas or other complications.

I give all my patients the same advice.  take the following wee off from work.  If opossible have a second wee available.  Beyond that it is a case by case basis.

Need more than a few days

Augmentation-Mastopexy is a procedure that requires a usual 4-6 weeks of healing time including minimal lifting. Your schedule is too demanding to return to work in a few days! Dr. ES

Recovery after mastopexy with implants

Return to normal physical activity after mastopexy with implants is usually possible after 1 to 2 weeks, but it is best to defer strenuous activity such as weight lifting for at least 4 to 6 weeks after surgery to help avoid a bleeding complication and allow uneventful healing.

Return to work after Mastopexy with Augmentation

For this combined procedure, I almost always place the implant over the muscle. Because of this, we do not restrict arm use. Recovery is, therefore, very rapid. Two days should be enough. You will, however, be somewhat more tired after work than usual for a number of weeks while your body is using extra energy to heal.

Recovery restrictions after Mastopexy with Implants

Hi there- A lot depends on whether your implants will be placed under or on top of your muscles, and also on your surgeon's particular technique (we don't all do it the same way). In other words, telling you what I prefer for my own patients to do will not be of much use to you- only your surgeon will know what is usually required of his/her patients. I would verify with them what your restrictions should be, and then follow their instructions carefully to get the best... more

Back to Work After Mastopexy / Implants

My personal protocol is at least a 2 week period to allow full healing. But each surgeon has their own protocol. Best regards from MIAMI Dr. B
