Beware tanning after chemical peels

Good question! While tanning always causes skin damage, you are particularly susceptible to the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays in the weeks after a chemical peel, including a salicylic acid (beta-lift) peel. Uneven skin darkening (hyperpigmentation) or skin lightening (hypopigmentation) are potential side effects of a chemical peel, and the risk of having these side effects dramatically increases with sun or tanning bed exposure as the skin recovers after a chemical peel (all peels)... more
