Medications to discontinue prior to Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing

It is advisable to discontinue blood thinners prior to procedures such as Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing (e.g. Active Fx, Fraxel Repair, Mixto); however, this should be done in consultation with your doctors. Blood thinners include but not limit to aspirin, ibuprofen as well as vitamin supplements such as Vitamin E, gingo biloba, fish oil.

Yes, discuss them with your doctor

We have a list of medications and topical prescriptions that we go over with our patients before the Active FX laser procedure. We usually have them stop ASA and NSAID's as well as retinols and other topical retinoids a couple of weeks before. Other physicians might have other protocols, so discuss this with your treating physician.
