Can I Apply the Glycolic Acid Peel on Just the Forehead, Nose, and Beard Area or the Whole Face?

I'm 30, male, olive skin. Mild acne scarring on my forehead, black/white heads on nose (looks bad up close), and occasional zit on my forehead. I've been using Proactiv for about a year and a half, seems like it worked a bit, but obviously not enough. I recently purchased 40% Glycolic Acid Peel to try at home. Do I need to apply it to my whole face or I can just use it on my forehead and nose? I also have a beard, do I need to shave? I'm terrified of the horror stories here. Thank you!
