Alternative to Epiceram Emulsion for Dog Bite Scar?

I have sore, lumpy scars on the sides of my thumb as the result of a dog bite. The scars are now about three months old. I saw a dermatologist about a month ago and he prescribed Epiceram skin barrier emulsion for me.

I apply the cream twice a day but I don't see any benefit from this medication. I have followed up with him and he has told me to continue with the medication and give it up to six months.

I am wondering if there is something better to put on my scars? Thank you for your help.

Might Request a Plastic Surgery Consult

After three months, I am afraid topical measures do not help very much. Although you did not provide a photograph, I feel that you would be best served by consulting with either a hand surgeon or a plastic surgeon skilled in hand surgery. The former would be preferred if there is any loss of function and the latter if you are bothered by the appearance of the scars.
