Therapy is not routine before Plastic Surgery Consultation

Hi there- Therapy is not routinely required before plastic surgery consultation. On the other hand, when patients have problems that can affect their motivation for surgery, their goals, ability to participate effectively in their care, or their perception of outcome, they are better off pursuing improved mental health than a change in their appearance.

Therapy and plastic surgery

It is not routine for a plastic surgoen to ask his/her patients to go for therpay prior to surgery. Blood work, and sometimes medical clearance are.

Plastic surgeons and therapy

I don't think plastic surgeons ask patients to have therapy before seeing them but sometimes we wind up needing therapy after dealing with some of what we see... :)
