I'm scheduled for breast augmentation in 5 days, but I think I may have gallstones. I had an ultrasound and bloodwork yesterday and I'll find out if I have them on Monday. I'm wondering if I do have them, if this is a risk and I should wait to have my breast augmentation? I know my doctor will tell me in a couple of days, but I'm wondering now. I have only 4 gallbladder attacks since July
Answer: GB Yes you may as long as you have your gallstones taken care of before surgery. I would suggest a laparoscopic cholecystectomy if possible. 3 to 6 months later you can have your breasts done.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Can I still have breast augmentation if I have gallstones? Gallstones are not contraindicative to breast augmentation. However, my advice would be to have the gallstones removed first. Depending on the technique used to remove the stones, you may have tenderness in your abdomen when you try and sit up and down, etc. You will need to use your arms to help you ambulate. When you have a breast augmentation, you are not allowed to use your arms to push, pull or lift anything heavy for the first couple of weeks. This means that you would not be able to get up and down easily if you end up having your gallstones removed fairly soon after your breast surgery.I hope this helps.

Answer: Can I still have breast augmentation if I have gallstones? Thank you for your question. If you are symptomatic meaning pain fever and distress caused by your gallstones this problem should be addressed before you have breast augmentation. You need to notify your plastic surgeon now before surgery so that your plastic surgeon can make a decision based on how you are doing clinically. If you truly have asymptomatic gallstones then that would not be a contraindication. Please see your plastic surgeon.

Answer: Gallstones and breast augmentation Symptomatic gallstones would be a contraindication to proceeding with breast augmentation surgery. This problem should be fully evaluated prior to surgery. The presence of gallstones that are not otherwise causing a problem should not interfere with breast augmentation surgery.

Answer: Gallstones Gallstones alone are not a reason that you cannot have surgery. However, if you have had 4 attacks since July, this may be a problem. The clearance for your surgery should be given by your primary care physician or your internist, whoever can make a decision with your surgeon whether you are safe for this procedure or not.
