After a Midface Lift, I Have Permanent Synkinesis (R) and Brachman Score 3/6 (L). Help?

A subperiosteal midface lift 2 years ago caused numerous permanent nerve injuries. Is there anything better than a static lift for the left-sided mouth droop? Also, botox temporarily reduces the right sided contraction but then causes the right side of my mouth to droop as well. Thus, though my face feels better,it does not look better after botox. The synkinesis causes the entire right side of my face to pull up causing marked asymmetry with an off-center philturm. Many more problems exist.

Facial Nerve Weakness after Midface Lift

Wow, I am very sorry this happened to you. This is certainly the worst of the nightmares for any cosmetic surgery patient. You are far enough out from the injury that the only options are static suspension, temporalis muscle transfer or gracilis innervated free flap transfer. None of these are great options and none of them will give you facial symmetry with facial animation. I know you can't go back in time, but I'm sure you wish you had never had this done... more

You can use a temporalis muscle transfer procedure to help your smile

I would consider this as an option. There are people that do this in the country and might be worth looking into. I do like midface lifts for many reasons. This would be one of them. The YoungVolumizer is a much better option. see video
