What are Some Last Resort Options for BAD Acne?

I am a 25 year old mother/girlfriend/student with BAD acne. I have literally tried everything. Dermatologists have put me on birth control, topical meds, antibiotics and 2 full courses of accutane, but I still have acne. I am healthy and fit, drink tons of water and eat pretty healthily. I wash my face and moisturize regularly. Nothing is working at all. This is very frustrating. I am certain I CAN'T get rid of my acne for good, but I would like to get it under control. What is the next step?

Treatment-resistant Acne

This is a commonly recurring question in the community. I find that these patients benefit from a full hormone profile to rule out possible contributing abnormalities. Rare genetic syndromes can be associated with treatment-resistant acne as well. As such, the treatment options are minimal. Physical modalities such as periodic superficial peels, microdermabrasions, or Levulan Photodynamic Therapy are all avenues that should be discussed with your doctor as well. more

Treatment for BAD acne

If you are still having active acne breakouts, you might consider treatment with IPL or photodynamic therapy (PDT).
