I recently had microabrasian done to my teeth to remove some decalcified white spots and where the enamel was removed, from the middle down, the tooth is clear unlike the rest of my teeth. Bleaching doesn't work because there isnt much if any enamel there to bleach. Is there a way to add enamel back or eliminate the clearness without crowns, veneers or composite? If you can help I will be forever grateful because my self esteem is in the dumps and this is just one more thing. THANK YOU!

Replacing enamel

There is unfortunately not any way to grow back enamel once it is gone. The only options to replace it are bonded composites, veneers or crowns. Composite would probably be the most conservative and the least expensive.

Issues from Microabrasion

Microabrasion removes the most superficial layer of the tooth. Unless you were already missing significant enamel, there should not be a problem. We have no means to grow enamel, so bonding, veneers, or crowns would be necessary to replace missing enamel. One of the best aspects of Cosmetic Dentistry is help people improve their self esteem. Please be open to one of these restorative procedures to help you feel like yourself once again.
