Can Acne Scars in Months After Treatments Look Worse Before Better?

I started my acne scar treatment about 9 months ago, I initially had 2 Fraxel treatments (non ablative), I developed hyperpigmentation after the treatments and had 1 IPL to address this problem. I then looked into alternative treatments and 3 months after the Fraxel & 6-8 weeks after IPL had 2 dermaroller treatments. 2 months after 2nd Dermaroller scars are currently looking little more noticeable than before any treatment. Is it possible that during the remodeling stage that scars can initially look worse (wider, longer) before improving?
