Does Malic Acid Work Well on Acne Scars?

I have bad acne scars on my cheeks. The other areas of my skin are getting a lot better though. When I get scars on my forehead and chin, they usually clear up nicely. However, the ones on my cheeks take forever to heal. I also have a very oily skin, mainly in that T-zone area. How effective would Malic Acid be for scars? Some of them don't seem like they're that deep, maybe some of the darker ones are. I was considering a TCA but did want to do anything stronger than needed.
