Safe and Effective Treatments for Acne Scars?

I'm 30 and have a Mediterranean, oily complexion. I have some brown spots on my face as a result of picking non-severe acne spots. I've been looking to find a safe treatment to remove them and found some recommended treatments which looked quite effective. However, I found out that they contain some chemicals which may not work, such as Kojic Acid, which can turn brown and lose its efficacy upon exposure to air or sunlight. I've also read that Hydroquinone is carcinogenic.

I found this product called Zenmed which looks quite safe and effective but I'm still not sure about it. Are there any safe, not so expensive acne scar treatments which you recommend?
